Messaging in Orem lets you send direct messages to other creators. Use it to share tracks, collaborate, or just connect with people whose music you enjoy.

Your inbox

Navigate to Community → Messages (or tap the messages icon) to open your conversation inbox. Each conversation shows the other person’s name and avatar, the last message preview, and a timestamp. An orange dot on an avatar marks unread conversations. Use the search bar at the top to filter your inbox by the other person’s name.

Starting a new conversation

1

Find the person you want to message

Open the Search page and type a name or username. Results show users, tracks, beats, albums, and artwork. Switch to the Users tab to focus only on accounts.
2

Open their profile

Tap the user in the search results to open their profile page.
3

Tap Message

On their profile, tap Message. If you’ve never spoken before, a new conversation is created automatically. You’ll land directly in the conversation thread.
You can also start a conversation from any track or album you own by selecting it with Select Mode in the library and tapping Share.

Inside a conversation

The conversation view shows the full message history in chronological order. Type in the input field at the bottom and tap Send (or press Enter) to send a message.
One-on-one conversations between you and one other creator. Messages show read receipts — a single checkmark means sent, a double checkmark means the other person has seen it.

Sharing tracks and albums in chat

When you share a track or album from your library using Select Mode → Share, Orem attaches the content as a rich card inside the conversation. The recipient can tap the card to open the full track or album detail view and listen directly from the message thread.

Managing your inbox

Check the box to the left of any conversation to select it, then tap Delete in the bulk actions bar. You can also tap Select All to select every conversation at once.
In the full conversation view, use the Unread tab to show only conversations with messages you haven’t read yet.
The inbox refreshes automatically every 30 seconds. Pull down on the list to refresh immediately.
You can only message creators who have an Orem account. If someone doesn’t appear in search, they may not have signed up yet.
